What we do
The Zonta Club of Pascagoula Area was chartered in 1977. Since that time, the Pascagoula and Jackson County communities have benefited from the service-oriented efforts of the Zonta members.
Jackson County CASA
Every year more than 500,000 abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nourishing homes. Too many spend years moving from one temporary home to another. They have no family to call their own. They are more likely than other children to face homelessness, unemployment, even prison as adults.
That’s where CASA steps in. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created in 1977 to make sure the abuse and neglect these children suffered at home does not continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system.
As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is they are placed into safe, loving homes where they can thrive.
Adrienne's House
Adrienne's House is the secondary domestic violence shelter of the Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence. The shelter was named in memory of Adrienne Klasky, a lifelong resident of Pascagoula who was killed by her ex-husband in 1989.
Programs offered include 24 hour per day 7 days per week temporary emergency shelter; individual counseling for adults and children; group counseling for residential and nonresidential clients; case management; legal/court advocacy; civil legal services legal clinic.
