Each Yellow Rose tells a story.
On this page, we honor women whose lives reflect service, leadership, and quiet courage—women who show up, stand firm, and leave their communities better than they found them.
The Yellow Rose Award recognizes those who serve with purpose and heart. These recipients may not seek the spotlight, but their impact shines through the lives they touch, the doors they open, and the steady example they set for others.
A donation is made in each recipient’s honor to support the causes they champion, extending their legacy beyond a single moment and into lasting change.
Here, we celebrate them—
their dedication, their influence,
and the golden trail they leave behind.
(Because some people don’t just grow where they’re planted… they help everything around them bloom.) 🌹
Sharla Holder
Widows Walk was founded by Sharla Holder, who saw a quiet need often overlooked—widows longing for connection after the initial season of loss has passed. What began as a simple lunch invitation became a welcoming table where widows gather for conversation, encouragement, and community. Widows Walk exists to remind women that even in grief, they do not have to walk alone.
Colleen Larsen
Colleen is recognized for her leadership in the Backpack Buddies program. In her role as Lead Nurse for the Pascagoula-Gautier School District, her heart for service reaches far beyond the school day—meeting students where they are and ensuring they are cared for in every way that matters.
